men seem to be lampooned. women are certainly treated more deferentially. Thorpe was the only intoxicated woman mentioned in media until Perran. and what a ferocious attack was made on Thorpe - an attack I joined in with as, as I am with Joyce, I was appalled by her behaviour.

but Thorpe certainly copped it far worse than Joyce has though I think Joyce, being a much more senior MP, deserves deeper public and parliamentary ire. imo he's got off pretty lightly.
