I'm not backtracking at all. I'm simply pointing out that the only relevant metric for individual investment success (while holding a long position in a non-dividend paying company) over a defined period is the percentage gain on the share price. Everything else is just noise.
The fact that you are unwilling to agree and instead are trying to choose a metric that can be manipulated through dilution (particularly at times like these) tells me everything I need to know.
