My issue is that if people were really outraged by woolies and their "price gouging" they would have shopped elsewhere a long time ago. The duopoly does one thing right: convenience
People are beyond addicted to it that they can't visit a fresh fruit and veg store + a butcher + a smaller grocery store and walk away with better ingredients, cheaper.
I do this because I like getting better quality ingredients and it's only a small bit of extra hassle to eat better food cheaper and be healthier. I cannot fathom why people who are allegedly furious at the duopoly don't do this for their own personal benefit, if not to make their point.
The ACCC should focus on things like forcing the small stores out. That I agree with.
I approach this from a true capitalist mindset and want to see more competition. But begging government to do it just won't work. The public needs to actually educate themselves.
