I don't recall if it's NSW or Aus wide but there are new regulation with regards to new Class 2 buildings having requirements to have electrical infrastructure, (with additional fire resistant measures) that will permit installation of EV chargers in the carparks. That doesn't mean the chargers ahve to be installed, thats on an individual basis. The cabling, distribution boards and sufficient space for electrical easements need to have capacity to run those services.
Retrofitting buildings is an entirely different case and a battle, but having new dwellings with the infrastructure as a requirement is a big step forward. It's one of many recommendations being incorporated into the building design and regulation updates, along with parking numbers being addressed too ie house garages for aged living are going to be larger to accommodate wheelchairs along with class 2 parking spaces having a minimum of 50% being disabled access.
Eventually apartments are going to need further energy generation to help cope with the increased demand on the building, I'm curious if developers are going to consider IBIS style solar and turbine roof structures so they can sell that energy on to renters.
