The Sami position in relation to the Supreme Court is a complex one. The court treats these cases with care, as there is a complex history. It's not so much about land rights, as "right to use".
However, Talga has approached the matter in a very respectful, non-antagonistic way- not mining during the winter months, when the Sami bring their reindeer inland.
While the court will show some sensitivity and respect to the appeal, the chance of the Supreme Court granting leave to appeal remains very slim, imv. That it is taking time is actually not that surprising.
