The F-35 has one big advantage over all of the fighter families from Russia. Its visability, particularly with regards to its vulnerability to being picked up on enemy radar, is very low.

While the infra-red systems are an advantage, the fighters like the SU 30 still need to be cued in via an airborne radar plane or a ground station system, and they will still have trouble picking up the F-35 in order to attack it.

The MiG-29 and Su-27, fighters are much more visible on radar. The F-35 still retains the advantage as it will see its targets like the SU 30, long before the SU 30 pilot knows he's been detected.

That will enable the F35 to fire the first shots. With missiles like the AMRAAM and the AIM-9X, the F-35 will be very likely to kill its targets before they even know an F-35 is in their general area.

The F-35 will have the best Russian planes outperformed, and it gets better, when one realises that the United States Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps will have more F-35s combined than there are Russian made Flankers and Fulcrums aircraft in service.
