There will always be a need for BESS . Especially as l expect the switch to renewables to be a well in front of an ev fleet maturing .
However, it makes more sense to utilise the available energy storage capacity of parked evs as soon as it appears. Enables much better load shifting . Having them top up during the day ready for the evening peak is very good for the grid and for renewable electricity generators. Less curtailment for them means a better optimized system.
That should lead to cheaper power which is good for everyone.
Fuel excise goes into consolidated revenue.
They won't be giving that up that amount of income. They'll be looking for it somewhere else.
l expect we'll see a distance traveled tax. A user pay system.
