whatever you might like to believe the fuss is not simply about gender roles. That of course was what feminism was about - breaking down such roles and definitions
Now it’s about gender identity. An entirely different thing. In fact you might observe that many men who decide they are trans become hyper feminine and thus reinforce gender roles. Somewhat ironic no?
it is also about ignoring sex which is defined by chromosomes and maintaining that gender identity is how you now define your sex.
it is complicated further by the fact that one simply needs to say one identifies as a different sex/gender and that is what counts - not whether you have either chromosomes of a particular type or particular sexual organs.
I couldn’t care less what someone believes they are and if they want to act it out but I do care of in the process they impinge on others rights to have privacy, to use language that defines how they see themselves.
we are turning the world on its head for a small percentage of people as if they are all that counts.
