If Ukrainians wanted peace, they would have negotiated with Russia instead of getting themselves involved into a prolonged war it can't win.

March/April 2022 negotiations would have been a good opportunity for the Ukrainian government to stop this whole thing.
Zelensky, encouraged by his NATO buddies, decided not to negotiate.
Since then:

- Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians dead or seriously injured
- Millions have fled (and fleeing in all directions to avoid being drafted)
- More territories lost. Chances of them returning under the Ukrainian flag? Zero
- Infrastructure in ruins
- Economy in shambles and totally dependent on US-EU handouts
