You have got to be joking if you think wireless is the answer. Every wireless tower will require fibre backhaul to a central exchange. And because wireless is a shared medium (unlike fibre that has 100% allocation to each user) you will be sharing that backhaul with every other person in your area that is also connected to that tower. Most backhaul in Australia from wireless towers is currently 155Mbps. There may be some at 622Mbps.
This means that if you want to connect at 100mbps to your laptop then the tower can support no more than 6 users downloading at the same time.
Lets say for instance however that only one in a hundred people are using the net at any time via wireless. If the backhaul from the tower was 622 Mbps then you still need a new tower for every 600 people.
For me I do not want a new tower at the end of every suburban street.
