A decision on the project will then rest with a joint authority made up of both the Commonwealth and NSW governments. And the Commonwealth has indicated it will allow New South Wales to consider its position first.
Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King said the government intended to follow protocol going forward, and would not comment on the future of the project.
"I assure Australians that any decisions that I take as the federal minister for resources will always be based on sound evidence and in accordance with the law," she said.
"Australians quite rightly expect this of their elected leaders.
"I am not going to provide an ongoing commentary on future official decisions that come before the joint authority, whether in relation to PEP-11 or any other matter."

but I don't get why you're claiming that Albanese is wasting money on this matter. if Asset Energy takes the claim to court the gov can either fold and approve the application, negotiate an outcome or fight against Asset E. its not something that can be ignored.
but now Albanese has ensured that the area will host wind turbines. so likely the turbines are a higher priority for Albanese. I would agree with this. but as the turbines are floaters, secured by anchor points on the sea floor, maybe the 2 industries can coexist on the same site.
whichever way it goes, it shouldn't be a problem for voters of Warringah as both projects will be around 30km off shore and so beyond the horizon.
yep Greens and Teals won't like it, but surely the LNP would back it in if they vote sensibly.
