Value, allow me to further clarify.
CUE P/E ratio was 3.0 based on yesterday close. Today, after the dividend announcement the shareprice closed +50% up at 10c (a 3 year high), and so the current P/E ratio is now 4.65
Obviously the earnings haven't changed from yday to today, so what we've just witnessed is a multiple expansion from P/E 3.0 to 4.65 in a single day.
Again, this just reinforces how important dividends are for realizing true value in a stock. If SHE paid a dividend, even "prematurely" before the next few wells are brought online then we can rightly expect the same sort of rerate in share price based on a revaluation from the market to a high-yield stock.
Even after todays massive shareprice jump, CUE is trading on a new dividend yield of 20%...how long do you expect that to last before more people buy into it pushing the yield down as SP increases??
C'mon David - the spill meeting is over now, can we allocate some of the balance sheet to dividends and give the whole market (not just current "long suffering" shareholders) what it wants to see!!??
