One interesting question - why will the BMT-CTN so simply agree to cover most of the trial costs for Mesoblast?

It's an amazing thing to occur - but why?

Also when BMT-CTN is funded considerably by the US Government (NIH). I know they specialise in the area but that is not a reason to pay tens of millions out to help a commercial company.

Essentially - Why would so much US government funding go into support a Australian Commercial business?

This amazing deal appeared very quickly after the last FDA CRL - and I mean extremely quickly.

Was this some deal by the FDA? Basically FDA said - We are stuffing you around a lot we know and we have to be seen to as stem cells are a contentious topic, but hey as an incentive to keep working through our looooong processes, we know people at the BMT-CTN and they can fund most of your adult trial as we are keen for that cohort in the US as well. How does that sound.

What other reason? As there has been no commercial sales deal struck with BMT-CTN right.
