CXO and VUL were very very profitable for many... shorting it off course...can't complain. .....unfortunately any long holders or dream thinkers got stung badly... but, honestly... there were plenty of warnings and they all could join the shorting side at anytime.... and successfully.... just look at the charts....


I'd say, trading/investing/speculating has changed enormously within the last 10 years... If you only play one way, you will not make it anymore..... you must be flexible to Buy in or Sell in.... with AI and Algos getting better by the day.... you better brush off your skills....

And yes, anyone can short it legally and successfully... follow the Smart Money and not the Dumb Money...
