Tysonphan I agree with your second part Re the choice of legal firm. But let me assure you the legal trust account deposit is not weird. It’s very common. The problem with securing a bank guarantee with cash at the bank is the company can spend the cash at the bank and the guarantee becomes worthless. The money being held by the the third party trustee is SUPPOSED to make the deposit more secure for the customer/supplier’s peace of mind. As we’re discovering though, whilst it’s not a likely scenario it doesn’t protect against fraud or wrongdoing by the legal firm or collaboration between the legal firm and the company. That’s the murky smelly bit we all agree on - tjhe interrelationships between the various entities.
