@Johilo returned; IMO the decision by ASIO to leak just part of the story is disgraceful - release all the details or nothing if it's too sensitive / dangerous.
I agree with those former pollies and even countries protesting ASIO's announcement - until their names are cleared, they're smeared!
It's my assessment what I regard as ASIO's self-promotional behaviour is consistent with its abysmal track record for half a century. Its affinity with the far right wing of Australia's political spectrum has long been known and begs the question as to whether it's fit for purpose.
Australia claims to be a social democracy! And yet we harass and incarcerate whistle-blowers, we let the likes of Julian Assange be tortured by our 'friends' in the UK and the USA for decades and we even allow a foreign media organisation to corrupt our political processes.
And what has ASIO done about such things?
