As I understood it, it was only intended as a 3 year trial but by the end of that period the public were starting to see through the BS. Yes there was a highly visible flu puffing steam from the buses into the atmosphere, and yes you could drink the water produced by the fuel cell, but people were soon learning that the hydrogen used was produced by SMR so the supposed green credentials became a laughing stock.
