The Infinite regression problem rears its head when there is insistence on a first cause which is the God in these discussions.
The universe does not need a first cause to exist.
In my view there are bigger mysteries thant the start of the universe and the start of life.
One obvious one is: why do we have children.
There are compelling reasons not to have children which come with a mountain of disadvantages, yet many of us have them.
It is not true that everything in the universe is contingent. The universe itself could exist without a first cause.
The start of the universe and the start of life are longer the complete mysteries that they once were.
