Agreed. I don't know the answer to your question but am expecting the bulk returned and the rest done in an aftermarket trade without much impact within a day or two of the deadline. I think the numbers are bogus and just represent the borrow not the amount of actual shorts in play.
I am really curious because they are sort of forced to show their hand here. Trading volume and short reports will tell the story.
