Gold road didnt want to risk the whole company developing the Gruyère mine so they sold 50% to goldfields for about 500 million Au plus Goldfields agreed to fund completion of the mine .This was a very smart move for gold road as they have significant cash flow from Gruyère and indeed allowed them to buy 20% of DEG.To date this has not proven to be a good investment for them.Goldfields of course is well used to building mines ,gold road had no experience in that and nor does DEG.
One of the issues on this bb is that over the last 2 years (or more) there have been multiple unsubstantiated rumors that DEG was going to be taken over for a big premium.Everyone of these posts has been wrong and none of them ever provided any evidence that it would happen and it has not and it will not .The least little bit of research into what the top 10 gold mining ceos have to say always indicates they are not interested in a project like DEG.Deg is overvalued and it is going to take at least 1.5billion AU to actually finance and build a mine over the next two to three years .It is also apparent that a lot of DEg shares are tightly held 20% by Gold road ,50 million shares by gdxj ,and shares held by blackrock make it Extremely unlikely that a takeover would even be practical.
It is Obvious that Deg wants to go it alone ,the question is whether they can pull it off .If they dont the price will drop to 50 cents and then their might be a takeover.CEOs of large miners have learnt their lessons from mistakes made in the past so they are all developing new projects organically.
