Now let's hypothesise for one moment that there are more than one BP interested. Even the most devilish of actors can be forced into making favourable concessions in order to execute their plans.
It's a bit like mining giants offering generous paternity/maternity packages. IMO they couldn't give a toss about the employee, it is just what is needed to get the ore processed in an environment where labour is a scarce commodity.
Now say there is a goose that can lay golden eggs...
All conjecture of course, but we will find out sooner or later...
