People should also look at when a dividend can be paid and the relationship between having retained profits.
If anything, a capital return would be more likely, but that potentially leaves people holding a capital gain to deal with.
The buyback increases your percentage ownership of the company without affecting the shareholders' income or taxes, at least until they sell.
