'Market Reflections' from the last trading session (06.10.2010)

"The promise of pending Fed buying is the central feature of the financial markets, putting a floor on stocks, bonds and commodities and opening a trap door for the dollar. Weak economic data, like today's ADP estimate for Friday's payrolls, heighten expectations for aggressive Fed action while strong economic data, like yesterday's ISM non-manufacturing report, point to accelerated growth once Fed action begins.

Stocks were mixed with the Dow up slightly to 10,967 but the Nasdaq down nearly one percent after Morgan Stanley cut a pair of specialty chip makers on concern over Asian demand. The dollar is extending its slide with the dollar index down 0.4 percent to 77.41. Oil rose another 1/2 percent to $83.27 while gold hit a new record ending up nearly 1/2 percent at $1,348. The weak ADP report raised demand for Treasuries where the 5-year note fell 4 basis points to 1.16 percent." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]
