Yep that story in the link is so very true for many here and all over the market. It is like Real Estate in a way. An agent will never tell you to hold on to your house for another 7 years to double or triple your money, or more. They can’t get their commission doing that.
Same with a stock broker, financial advisor etc. No benefit in that for them. They need you to make quick buys and sells. Meanwhile behind the scenes, with your profit, they are making very long trades on probably the same stock, so they will have a very rewarding retirement.
Rule is IMO - Go by your own instincts based on your own solid research. Sure financial advice is great, but at the end of the day, financial advisors and stock brokers are not going to pay your mortgage, retirement or leave something for your kids. YOU and ME will. Well, that’s the plan anyway right?
