Unfortunately however, the word Percheron means nothing to most people, so effectively has zero impact. Given my knowledge of human behaviours, I'll bet that only a handful of people (if that) even thought of looking up the name to see what it may possibly mean. We have to be honest here and accept the fact that the name has zero impact right now for those reasons. Had they called it Clydesdale, a lot more people would have recognised the word I expect. Having said that, should the company go ballistic at some stage, the name (but probably not the meaning) would then become well known, but right now, no. That is my honest opinion.
The Percheron is a breed of draft horse that originated in the Huisne river valley in western France, part of the former Perche province, from which the breed takes its name. Usually gray or black in color, Percherons are well-muscled, and known for their intelligence and willingness to work. Wikipedia
