Heartbeat! We have probably seen every episode. We actually visited the village where the filming was made, Goathland, on the old steam train. But we did a big whirlwind camping trip with an old borrowed tent in the back of our car, very basic. The summer before we migrated here. We landed up one time camping in a field behind a pub in Yorkshire and walked to get the train to Goathland.
It was kept very much like the film set, even one of the bars which we visited at the pub, was exactly the same as when Gina was the barmaid.
The village garage as well. The music was great. My favourite character apart from Nick the copper (from the series East Enders) was the stuttering naughty man Greengrass. Great programme, I hope you enjoy it.
It was a very memorable day for us as when we arrived back at our station, I was terrified to endanger my life again by negotiating a path through the moor on which we had previously walked through a herd of Highland Cattle. So I persuaded my poor husband to walk back and get the car. People say Highland cattle are gentle, well most cattle are, byut my Scottish friend told me about a friend of hers who had a Highland cow in the byre when it calved, the next morning she went to check on it and the possessive mummy cow turned round and stuck her horn into the side of this poor woman’s head and killed her, hence my fear.
