Speaking of housing efficiency, I've got a friend from Canada, and she can't believe how cold Oz houses are during winter and how much energy it takes to keep just the living area warm. In Canada, where it is cheaper to build, all homes are triple insulated and triple glazed, and the entire house is hot enough to prance around naked in their winters of sub 20 degrees Celsius.
