As @Norbeto points out, while James Brown does waffle on the exact timing of the choosing of the chairman (as he usually does with everything), Lucas does say that the appointment of the chairman is to take place in the first quarter of 2024, and since James Brown does not thereafter care to contradict or correct Lucas, or even put out a correcting statement afterwards, it shall stand as fact, and the market and especially the shorters will hold him to it, and punish him for it (and us by extension). JB and the bod never seem to learn that when you run a PUBLIC company, every word will be scrutinized by the market.

And as you say, it is heinous that two board members can't even be on the same page. It apparently seems that terrible communication doesn't just happen between the bod and shareholders, it also happens within the bod. This is obviously completely unacceptable.

Yet another broken promise appears to be forthcoming from JB.
