My opinion is that we need the government to fund long term for a couple of universities to become nuclear energy research and training centres near to where the subs are located for our top students for physics, engineering and chemical processes with focus on developing nuclear uses. Could be on power supply, medical imaging, etc that will make us a world leader. Alongside this we could develop nuclear construction trades with highly trained technicians to build, operate and maintain the equipment as AI replaces other jobs and use less labour.
We have the opportunity to become world leaders and should move forewords instead of dropping behind the rest of the world. Starting from scratch is a huge advantage and needs to be a long term 5-10 20 year project backed by government. We need to support our highly trained youth instead of exporting them overseas and attract others at the top of their field for basic research to keep ahead of the field.
