US has a a long and extensive history of meddling in other countries. Coups, regime changes, overthrows, military interventions. US has considered Russia/USSR to be one of it's top security threats. I believe US had a hand in the collapse of the Soviet Union. I'm not suggesting that they caused it. But definitely contributed.
After the collapse of USSR, US has boosted it's efforts to diminish Russia's influence over it's former territories, contributing to political destabilization in such regions as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Georgia, Ukraine.
The war in Ukraine is a direct result of US's interventionalist anti-Russian policies.
