IF you put up money for a minerals float in early 2007, a year before the global financial crisis hit, you may not care to recall doing so. If, however, you bought certain copper stocks earlier this year, you may be in a more robust state of mind about the market.

A routine statement last week by RMA Energy (RMT) rang a dull bell somewhere in the Pure Speculation memory.

This had been one of the big runners in 2007, when the market was red hot and any new story seemed a great story.

RMT had lots of ground in Queensland and, seemingly, something pretty exciting in tin.

So pleased were they at RMT that, in November 2007, it did a presentation that included a very telling bar chart that showed RMT was the second-best performing float of the year, its share price having risen by 568 per cent to $1.67, although it had reached $2.60 two monthsearlier. RMT sits at 3c now and is 53 per cent owned by China Railway Resources.

The main conclusion you can draw from that November 2007 chart is the number of high flyers of that time that are yet to fulfil the early excitement.

I sent my mate (he's a :( shareholder) that report last week but also because i'd seen a new tenement granted to RMT west of Townsville on 8th Sept - EPM 18330 , he told me later on that he's been on that ground years ago and it has very good tin potenial and is hopeful the "new" geologist gets on with it.
