I still really struggle with the logic of this.
You lend your shares to another company for a piddling fee, they short the crap out of them, and them return them too you when they're worth half the value they were.
Only thing I can think is if you must have a very long term perspective, your convinced they will recover, and see some income as being better than none in the short term.
My simple logic, for what it's worth.
