Reading between the lines you seem to be advocating a dirigisme approach to Australia's housing affordability which is the theme of this topic or even our whole economy. Whilst the French post WW2 development is a fair example of government improving the life of the citizens via tight government control just remember that price control and rationing continued in Australia after WW2 resulting in a stagnating economy. Following their abolition our economy boomed under Menzies and the liberals moves to a more market based economy. How would you solve the housing affordability problem?
