Hi F&B,
XGD isn't a sector - it is part of the Materials Sector, i.e., it is a sub-group within the Materials Group.
Those graphs I present show the 11 Sectors of the ASX plus XJO, XGD and IAF.
XJO is the ASX200. XGD is the Gold Miners Index (a sub-group of Materials - XMJ), and IAF - which is an ETF for Composite Government Bonds.
I used to put a heading on that graph "ASX Sectors plus XJO, Gold Miners and Composite Bonds." But I thought that was awfully long winded for a Heading.
I apologise if my graph appears confusing and this helps to explain the anomalies in the chart.
I add XJO to the chart so sectors can be compared to the broad market index.
I put XGD in the chart because so many people like to trade the gold sector and see how it is going compared to the broad market. XGD is usually very volatile and trends strongly positively and negatively - and thus makes for good trading opportunities.
