It shouldn’t be controversial to be proud of Anzac Day. And in most places and communities around Australia, thankfully it isn’t. But the elites and activists who refuse to leave you alone in other parts of life refuse to let it stay that way. They want to make it a political football – or kill it with silence. They say it’s “bogan halloween” or a “Trojan Horse for racism, sexism, toxic masculinity, violence, homophobia and discrimination”.1 Rubbish. It’s time to draw a line in the sand. Australians are rightly proud of our Anzacs. These are men and women who put it all on the line in defence of this great nation. Many made the ultimate sacrifice and gave up their lives for Australia. And the tens of thousands of Australians serving our country today are the proud inheritors of the Anzac tradition. Celebrating, remembering, and acknowledging them is what Anzac Day is about. And it needs to stay that way. This Anzac Day, it’s time for Australia to say thank you. The activists will keep pushing to degrade and destroy Anzac Day. So take a stand for the Anzacs just as they have stood for you and sign the open letter of thanks today. It’s the least we can do.
