To be scientific about, this war has to be judged on outcomes so far; not on Ideology or what ought to be (morality) .
The truth is (and tangs likes the truth when it suits him) is that Ukrainians were much better off on the 4th April 2013 than they are now on the 4th April 2024. To argue otherwise is simply an oxymoron
Did the Ukrainian population have a right to demonstrate against their elected government which since 2010 to 2013 had avoided war with Russia ? IMO yes but the Ukrainian population has to realise that with rights there go corresponding responsibilities and as such the Ukrainian population misestimated Russia's response which was: -Annexation of the Crimea -Russia's support for Donbas separatists -The subsequent Russian invasion of the Ukraine in Feb 2022.
Just imagine if Mexico decided to side with a Russian/Chinese alliance with the intention of both Russia & China basing their respective WMDs in Mexico to protect Mexico from the USA (real or imagined)....... what do you think the US would do?
This has nothing to do with morality, but everything to do wit Great Powers' sphere of influence .
