The way I see it, any individual scan is raw data that needs to be put together with all other available information, analysed, conclusions drawn, peer reviewed and then put into a format/announcement that is digestable by a lay audience. That then needs to be quality reviewed before any announcement is released. The presentation was a couple of weeks ago so he would have seen some of the most recent scans, but that doesn't mean that all that new raw data had been put through the analysis / review stage.
Additionally, he quite clearly stated that updates would be released in line with conferences ... next week we will know what exactly he saw in the scans.
