Go look at Costco servo in Canberra, on week ends.
Biggest servo in Canberra, with by far most pumps. Yet even there often the wait time is 30 minutes.

Why people going there? Cause it is cheaper. Save $5 on a tankful. So they value their time at $10 per hour, a lot less than basic wage, and half that again if they have their spouse in the car.

Reminds me of a friend who owns a supermarket. A customer complained that he was charging too much for a can of coke. Yet when asked, he admitted that sometimes he bought coke at a servo - and it was pointed out that the servo charged 50% more than the supermarket.

Similarly why do people often buy a six-pack of beer? A full slab is much cheaper.

Some people are irrational, many are irrational some of the time, me too.
