I don't know if you have ever visited NSW but this is a lovely old town we visited many times. Had a lot of fun there. Very historical. Still have a friend near there. Was a 7 hr drive from where we lived but worth the journey. My friend's property had the old Commonwealth road on it which wasn't really visible right up to where they had started to dig into the mountain.
