Good morning my247shop ….
And before I write anything else thank YOU also for your knowledgeable , AVL supportive and non ‘personality-angled’ posts which I’ve enjoyed ever since I started reading this forum!
…..
But is this one debatable?
Ie was the conference only to do with solar panels?
I posted that late, and I mostly had wanted to tag the ARENA event had happened -seeing as it’s such a big renewable energy supporter (and seeing as it linked to the solar panel incentives story in The Australian yesterday.)
But I would have thought there was more under discussion than panels?
In fact the wrap up from LinkedIn says:
Industry leaders like Lumea, Edify Energy, and Neoen Australia sharing their views on the latest market trends in storage technology.”I know ARENA seems to have used that conference to announce it was funding half of Horizon’s $5.7m support of two companies trialling long storage battery microgrids pilots based on alternatives to vanadium to be installed next year https://arena.gov.au/news/new-battery-technologies-tested-at-regional-wa-microgrids/
And I know AVL has only publicly talked about NAIF and Export Finance as ‘interested’ but I still wonder what else is possible, and what else may be hatching re vanadium.
It looks like the last mention of vanadium at ARENA was years ago when it funded more than $5m over five years(?) to set up and study the Yadamalka VFB https://arena.gov.au/projects/co-located-vanadium-flow-battery-storage-and-solar/
That concludes next April but surely there’s already enough evidence coming in from that (Invinity) battery to pique its’ (and others!) interest in getting more VFBs underway?
And that billion dollars in incentives for solar panel builders despite that the tech is cheaper (and more advanced?) in China offers a useful model too?
And yes as you say -currently ..
“Storage batteries are a separate conversation which is happening right now, you can rest assured of that.
AVL are at the forefront of it here in WA so we just have to be patient and watch it all unfold.”
cheers![]()
