I remember back through the 70's and 80's the professional Uni student was a real thing which quite a few chose to do . Back then it was usally the Arts courses which enabled that. Back then Uni's tended to be like a family to a lot of people from what I saw, a lot of alternate bnelief.
It would be hard for that to occur now due to the cost.
