Can you imagine the populations of China and India reaching a comparable consumption pattern as the yanks?

What the world needs is conservation. Smaller & less houses, smaller footprints, less cars, less consumption, lower population growth rates, less travel, highly regulated control of worlds resources, etc.

Humanity needs to go back to basics.

What with humans being naturally greedy pigs, the only way to stop 'bad behaviour' is to tax it to death.
