The new Qantas Frequent Flyer program raises concerns for many consumers. While it offers more options, these options come at a significant cost in points.
As the table below shows, redeeming points for the same seat can now require substantially more points under the "Classic Plus" option. This essentially translates to a loss for the consumer and a gain for Qantas.
The program seems less accessible for frequent travellers with families, as accumulating 100,000+ points annually can be challenging unless actively pursuing credit card rewards strategies.
