Australia has a woeful record on training it's residents, companies just aren't interested they'd rather just poach someone from a competitor.

Bringing in people to work in tourism or hospitality for example is ridiculous.
Australia has a points based skilled migration system with an occupation in demand list, it just isn't being applied properly.

I was going on history and the wonderful infrastructure created by State Govts to train etc our people. Then came "privatisation", etc etc etc.

Yes we do require "skilled" migration - not unskilled or "deskilling" migration.
