No, I wouldn't buy more shares right now if "I knew the AGY was going to run aground", as you put it. That being said, one of the directors (Andrea Betti) invested $25k in October, and within a few months she had more than halved that investment, so I'm not sure that director purchases are a decent indicator of anything much at all.
Try to look at the other side of the coin mate. If company insiders were genuinely expecting an imminent re-rate on transformational news, wouldn't you expect more than just one director to chuck in $23k?
As I mentioned earlier, I see this as a neutral announcement, neither good nor bad.
