Your point on chrome making mining more complex/costly. What I see as now bringing the NKP prperties into play are the technology advancements
1. Conroast technology which allows cost effective extraction of PGM from high chrome ores. Possibly discussions with the technology owners (Jubilee)
2. Synergies between PGM and Ferrochrome mining.
I see these as key issues to a Xstrata / NKP tie up and the reason why NKP prefer Xstrata as they have the biggest Ferrochrome operation in SA.
The recent Xstrata statements referred in my view to both issues.
