I, like most here, am very optimistic about the coming 3d seismic proving Rafa to be a mammoth field.
However, maybe the time and care that is being taken is because the 3d shows it to be a very complicated structure and may not contain the super volumes we are hoping for. If a complicated structure, it would also mean a lot of smarts would be required to drill in the right places to exploit it. Also more thought might be required as to how best to commercialise the find, thus requiring innovative thought to get the best outcome. Hence small modular refinery may be part of that mix and would likely generate high margins and a most reliable cash flow. Fuel prices for consumers are very high in that part of Australia.
