Yeah, but to counter that you'd have to be one of the most naive people alive not to realise that for the centuries before the 'recent push for more diversity', being a white man was an extraordinary head start over every one else in every facet of our society.
There are hundreds, likely thousands, of competent people for every position known. A push to buck societal norms and try and get a broader diversity of backgrounds into those positions does not necessarily result in hires where the person is incompetent, but they do have blue hair and are female so... done!
You can have a "diversity hire" and still end up with a good hire.
Looking at it simply, women and men are about a 50/50 split. Law of averages dictates that competence for any occupation would be equally split. However, men have historically dominated.
To argue men have been or just are more competent is a fantasy. So is arguing any hire that doesn’t reflect historical trends is merely to satisfy 'woke ideology'.
