Wash trades
Could they be doing this in our faces to actually attract attention, attract negative attention? Maybe, say, to show they have control of the market; so inferring: "you should stay out".
Could it be to hold price while price is being used as criteria for negotiating something, and even possibly very slowly accumulating at the same time?
