"Coupling those results with a CR just wasted what should have been the biggest momentum boost they'll get for the foreseeable future" – This is a prime example of the conflict between managing an operational business and managing the share price. Delivering the momentum boost you'd like would leave the company with reduced capability to run the next stages.
